Binary consciousness
Binary consciousness refers to a mindset or worldview that perceives things in terms of only two categories or opposing options. This can be applied to various contexts, such as politics, gender, morality, among others, where people tend to see issues as “right” or “wrong,” “good” or “bad,” “black” or “white,” without considering nuances or other possibilities. This binary mindset can limit understanding and the ability to deal with the complexity of reality.
The mind and body have distinct functions; however, the personality always tries to take control, even when faced with obstacles due to ignorance regarding the body. Usually, we only turn to our bodies when we feel discomfort.
Rarely do we realize that our bodies carry a wealth of unconscious information and have their own consciousness. The body is the one that performs movements, breathes, and experiences. The conscious personality, no matter how hard it tries, does not make decisions for the body.

However, when we assume an observer stance, the mind plays a valuable role. It strives to bring awareness to others, acting as an effective External Authority. The unique ability of humans to communicate and express conceptual experiences offers unique and valuable insights to others.
By paying attention and allowing your body to express itself according to your type, profile, and definition, trusting your senses, external influence will gradually begin to lose its power, allowing you to express yourself more authentically, based on your own vision.
The 4 Types in Human Design
From the combination of centers and channels on the chart, four types of designs emerge, corresponding to four different biochemical structures, each with specific qualities. These unconscious dynamics are revealed through the electromagnetic field we emit, creating an organic frequency known as aura.
The aura, or the non-verbal form in which you express yourself, is perceived uniquely depending on your type.
Two of these types have an energetic nature. The Manifestor Type (9% of the population) emits a striking and unwavering frequency, challenging and initiating actions proactively. Meanwhile, the Generator Type (68% of the population) is nurturing, possessing resources and energy to nurture, sustain, and respond to life’s situations. The energy they represent fuels progress and contributes to building the world we know.
The other two types are not of an energetic nature but stand out for their awareness and assessment ability. The Projector Type (22% of the population) emits a penetrating frequency, attracting invitations and recognition for their intelligence and guidance. For the PROJECTOR
If you’re a Projector Type, your strategy for success involves being formally invited by others to embark on an experience because they recognize your ability to provide intelligence and guidance. Feeling “seen” will reduce the bitterness that invades you when you try to force the river, pursuing a goal that isn’t meant for you.
For the Generator
If you belong to the pure Generator Type or the Manifesting Generator, you will find satisfaction in waiting to respond to things based on the availability of your energy, avoiding the frustration you feel when it’s your mind that initiates and dictates the pace.
For the Manifestor

How we filter the experience
The Human Design charts feature 9 centers, each with unique biological and psychological functions. These centers act as filters for information for our senses and also store our memory.
The defined centers (those colored on the chart) reveal innate and consistent aspects within you. They represent your fundamental nature and become anchors when you learn to follow your internal authority and respect your type’s natural strategy.
On the other hand, the undefined centers (those in white on the chart) represent areas where you are influenced by the environment. They reflect and amplify the energies and characteristics of others, both positive and negative.

Reclaiming your life is not about returning to how things were but about moving forward more authentically from there. It’s about letting go of insisting that things be as your mind believes they should be or as convention dictates, suffering in the name of things that don’t matter and don’t make a difference in your life.
Overview of the Mandala from Human Design
From the perspective of the Mandala, you will see the synthesis of various elements that influence and reflect the complexity of the Human Design.
The visual representation allows you to recognize patterns and structures, learn to decipher the map and profiles. Once you understand the legend, you are ready to explore the information it provides.
Each element is logically arranged, with the 9 centers interconnected through 32 channels (totaling 36 possibilities when including integration channels). Each channel represents a unique vital force.
From a broad perspective, information flows and circulates on the chart in such a way that contiguous channels form streams and circuits of information, showing our need for interdependence and how we organize ourselves as a species in tribal, collective, and individual contexts. This is our way of interacting with the world and sharing our journey.
At a more detailed level, each channel consists of two opposing Gates. The Gates function as entry and exit points for information. When both Gates of a channel are activated, we establish what we call “definition,” allowing communication between the centers that this channel connects. Defined channels, indicated by colors on the chart, highlight specific characteristics of a person.
It is intriguing to observe that in 1953, Watson and Crick described the structure of DNA, while 5,000 years ago, Fu Hsi encoded the I Ching symbolically. Both revelations have notable correlations and allow glimpses into the genetic aspects of an individual, reflected in the arrangement of binaries and trigrams in the sequence of hexagrams. This connection is fascinating and leads us to better understand our own nature.
The 6 lines of the HEXAGRAM
In the Mandala image, you will see that the outer circumference is divided into 64 segments, corresponding to the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching, or Book of Changes. Each gate represents a hexagram composed of 6 lines in a combination of Yin (a divided line) or Yang (a solid line). In the previous image, we highlighted the 6 lines of gate 32 with a magnifying glass.
Each hexagram/gate in the sequence around the outer wheel of the Mandala also has a thematic complementarity with its polarity, the gate diametrically opposite on the wheel.
The 12 Profiles of Human Design
Deepening into what sets us apart, the Profile derives from the Sun and Earth positions, which you see in the columns of information on both sides of the chart:
The column encoded in black represents what is conscious in us (traits of our Personality). The column encoded in red represents unconscious aspects that affect the body (genetic traits).
The profiles are like the clothing of our binary consciousness, bridging the gap between the body and personality by associating a mental style with the organic nature that expresses our unconscious.
In Human Design, there are 12 profiles that emerge from the combination of the six lines of the hexagram and derive from the combination of the conscious and unconscious positions of the Sun and Earth axes. From them, we also deduce what Ra called the Incarnation Cross or life purpose.
A Human Design reading allows us to understand the roles we play in our relationships and life scenario and provides us with another level of differentiation from which we approach or deviate from our own nature and genetic determination.

We are subject to various conditioning influences, whether through the “chemistry” we share with others or the influence exerted on us by the stars that surround us.
Since time immemorial, mythologically, we have attributed to the stars the status of gods, and entire generations in the history of our evolution have been moved by their invisible current, which is more than evident in the sociocultural atmosphere.
The sky acts as a programming agent, affecting us both globally and individually.
Observing it allows you to unveil the veil of what is apparent and understand the mechanics of the cosmological illusion we navigate. Knowing the ephemeris and the impact that a lifecycle can have on you, on your psyche, or on your actions, expands your overall understanding, allowing you to act based on who you are, rather than being influenced by it in your decisions.
Astrological Basis
Each of these archetypes, besides bringing its own strength, is also governed by the archetypes of the planets with which you were materialized at the moment of your birth. Understand better below.
SUN – Archetype of the Father
The archetype representing our core energy, our primary Yang force. It is our ‘Being’ and what we ‘do,’ representing the theme of our incarnation. The Sun represents the Archetype of the Father. (70 percent of the neutrinos conditioning us come from the Sun). Our Personality Sun is how we express our ‘light’ in the world. Our Design Sun represents genetic themes inherited from our father.
EARTH: Archetype of the Mother
The archetype representing where we materialize, shape, the energy of the paternal archetype and also how we anchor and balance that energy within our Forms, meaning our bodies. The Sun and the Earth always work together and meet in the Mandala. The Earth provides the balance of primary Yin, the Archetype of the Mother. We find conscious balance when we are able to correctly integrate personality into our lives, and we find our stability (or unconscious balance) when we come to understand the world of Form. The Earth is the backbone of our stability.
NORTH NODE: Archetype of Maturity
On the Personality side, these archetypes are not who you are; instead, they establish what your Personality thinks about the world and about itself. On the design side, the nodes structure your relationship with the environment and those within it. The North Node corresponds to the mature stage of Life experience and changes, from the South Node to the North, as we reach our Uranus Opposition (around 38 to 43 years old). Moving towards the North Node signals a process of letting go of what no longer serves us and preserving what does.
SOUTH NODE: Archetype of Immaturity
The archetype representing our life experience during the phase of our development, our immaturity, until we reach the Uranus Opposition. In our nine central Uranian bodies, the transition from the South Node to the North Node symbolizes middle age and our arrival at adulthood. The Nodes represent the stage on which we perform our lives, how we perceive the world around us, and the environments we live in throughout our lives, which will support us so we can live our unique destiny.
MERCURY: Archetype of the Eldest Son
It represents the expansion of human consciousness, as well as the internal need to communicate. Mercury is the planet closest to the Sun, so metaphorically, it influences it. Mercury programs the Personality Crystal from the moment it enters the body until the moment of birth. What defines your Mercury in Personality gives you some insight into what you need to communicate in this life. Your Design Mercury also has something to communicate, but often we don’t know why we are saying something to someone when it is expressed through our unconscious Form.
VENUS: Archetype of the Youngest Daughter
The archetype that establishes our values and represents our moral principles and the natural laws by which we deal with others and the world around us. Venus is the archetype of the youngest daughter and also represents love and beauty. Personally, Venus is both good and evil and refers to your moral questions and issues. If you do not act with moral clarity, and if those around you do not act with moral clarity, Venus’s retaliation can be severe. The values established in Venus become Laws in Jupiter, and the punishment for breaking them is executed by Saturn.
MARS: Archetype of the Youngest Son
Energetically immature and free from responsibilities. It remains passive until it starts, and then it is a force to be reckoned with. Once activated, Mars’s ability to accumulate speed and strength means it can explode without reason, even overriding the most basic inhibitions. In your chart, Mars represents extraordinary energy that, when refined over time, can become powerful and mature wisdom about the correct use of energy. Mars plays a significant role in our personal transformation.
SATURN: Archetype of the Judge
This archetype is the place on the map where you must face the consequences of your actions. It is a very ancient Yin force, representing the Judge and the places in your life where you will have to pay for any fault that comes from not following your own laws and morals. Saturn is a deep sign that allows, over time, to see the progress of your process. Saturn is an impatient “sergeant” who does not coddle. If Saturn is leaving you alone, it is a sign that you are living properly; however, if you break your own rules, values, and laws, Saturn will punish you.
URANUS: Archetype of Chaos and Order
Where these archetypes appear in your design is where you express something unusual. The underlying mutative evolutionary current of Uranus has allowed us to transform our understanding of Maya and, today, extend our life to 84 years. PLUTO: Archetype of Enlightenment
The archetype that brings the forces of the unconscious to the surface; it represents rebirth. Pluto is the archetype that “reveals truth,” bringing hidden truths to the forefront for you to confront directly – truth transforms. Wherever you see Pluto in your map, that is your truth. Pluto’s deepest lesson is to find light in the darkness. Pluto’s mystery, the mystery of who you are, takes a lifetime of exploration.
The Human Design: Genetics & the I-Ching.
According to the Human Design system, there is an indirect relationship between Human Design and genetics. Human Design is based on the idea that each person has a unique energetic configuration determined by the positions of the planets and the hexagrams of the I Ching at the time of their birth. This energetic configuration, or “Design,” is considered an expression of their innate nature and can provide insights into their strengths, challenges, and life purpose.
While Human Design is not directly related to genetics or molecular biology, some scholars of Human Design argue that there is a subtle connection between the energies governing Human Design and the genes governing the physical aspects of the human being. This connection can be understood as a form of “synchronization” between subtle energies and the laws of biology governing human development.
However, it is important to note that the Human Design system is not a scientific theory, and there is no empirical evidence to prove any direct or causal relationship between Human Design and genetics. Human Design is a spiritual and metaphorical approach to understanding human nature and should not be confused with a biological or medical theory.
The Science of Differentiation
HOW DOES MANIFESTATION OCCUR?
This system is a field of study based on the knowledge of neutrinos. Neutrinos are subatomic particles incredibly abundant in the universe but notoriously difficult to detect. In one second, about 1.18 quadrillion neutrinos pass through every square centimeter in all directions, tirelessly.
The discovery in the early 21st century revealed something astonishing: neutrinos have mass, although it’s incredibly small and difficult to measure. They interact very little with other particles, but by their nature as matter, they have a subtle impact on everything they pass through.
Imagine this stream of neutrinos as a series of “consciousness crystals,” as Ra metaphorically called them. As neutrinos pass through them, they generate an input frequency (Base), depending on which of the crystal’s five facets they hit, orienting and positioning them.
Once inside the crystal, they follow a spiral trajectory, resulting in a tonal oscillation (Tone) that predicts the architecture of cognitive and sensory structure. Finally, the crystals emit a specific output frequency (Color) that affects the field of consciousness. A dilemma occurs: the frequency must be “correctly captured” by the magnetic monopole located in hexagram 2, known as “the conductor.” This geometric alignment shapes the “illusion” in which we live. When the capture is not accurate, what we call transfer occurs, distorting the Tonal information and impairing cognitive intelligence.
Thus, we live immersed in a vast ocean of particles carrying information, flowing through us all the time.
At the moment of birth, and 88 solar degrees (about three months) before, we act as a filter for this stream of neutrinos, which “imprints” on our cells, determining the unique nature of each individual and their tendency to conditioning. The crucial point for calculating a design is when the fetus completely leaves the maternal uterus, marking the total separation of the baby’s body from the mother’s body. This is essential data, unlike the moment when the baby takes its first breath or when the umbilical cord is cut.
From the moment you absorb this knowledge, there is a period we call deconditioning.
The Process of Deconditioning the Mind
Deconditioning, as it’s called in the Study of Personal Archetypes, is the process of letting go of what we are not. It’s a slow process because it’s a deep process, but it begins immediately from the moment you gain conscious access to these tools. When we reclaim our Inner Authority, we change the way we make decisions and conduct our lives.
Deconditioning is literally changing the cellular vibration within the body.
Biologically, life moves in cycles of seven years, as it takes approximately seven years for all the cells in our body to completely renew themselves. As soon as we start aligning with our own nature, allowing our body to live its life without resistance, we initiate a profound process of deconditioning.
Seven years later, we emerge more as the person we were born to be than the person we were before the knowledge.
It’s not easy to begin this process as an adult, as we need to deconstruct ourselves, and deconstructing is very painful. But, as we’ve heard countless times, it’s NEVER too late to start.
Even in ancient China, thinkers and philosophers had adopted the idea of “non-doing” as a form of doing. Living life surrendered to the system of Inner Divine Guidance provides a pleasant sense of comfort. Being awake and self-aware, living authentically and in harmony with your “Natural Direction” is much more interesting than being asleep and lost in the expectations of the homogenized world conditioning we live in.
With Human Design, you learn to make decisions in the right way, so that you and others can fully benefit from being yourself, rather than a copy of someone else. It’s worth the effort, time, and patience required to get there. Knowing yourself is loving yourself.
